"Devious" December

HOHOHO!
It is that time of year that Santa is getting
his red coat dusted, making his elves busy and his
reindeers well in shape.

And also time to look back and think,
have you been naughty or nice ...
because Santa is coming ....

-----------------------------

The USA seems to dive headlong into one (commercial) extravaganza after another, starting with Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and all the Christmas pressure.  This year NZ has adopted Black Friday as well.  It's enough to make anyone stay hidden under the blankets until about 15 January!  And sometimes one wants to remain hidden forever.
This journal page started as an exercise in interference paints over black gesso quite some time ago.  As I delve through the webs of incomplete memories of long ago darkness it has found its destiny and been worked on:

And another bit to kick off the Holidays (behind) but it is cute grr...

Welcome welcome back to the soon to be cold and dark days of December for the North and welcome to the soon to be toasty days of the Southern half of the World! Personally I wish for the mild and crisp days of Spring and Fall, but they seem to have disappeared many years ago in my neck of the woods!

We'd love to see your spin on the Holidays, won't you share?
Link up below and I'm pretty sure our December Winner will get a lil bit o' happy mail, so link away you new projects!

October is just so great time to find stuff

like these plastic zombie heads that somehow
ended up to my crafting table to be cut

Asylum Anne got seriously buried under a flood of new tupperware - how scary is that!!!!
Her last glance back to last night included Paper Artsy too,
with their truly appropriate text for Ike's Art digis
Grim Reaper, Birthday Rainbow, and Bad Day:

And what would be a treat for a one
player that uses our froggy to link her / his
creation(s) to our challenge?

Pipistrello

I don't do coloring books,
the images are way too big for
me to "handle" , but then I saw
this book with Jasmine Becket-Griffith
and I knew I wanted to try.
Gorgeous images!

Here's the first image, I colored her with Prismacolors
and then altered the photo with Ribbet.

Please link your art HERE,

I grabbed some of my scraps the other night
and played with my die, :).

1 October~Better known as THE BEST MONTH OF THE YEAR!

Yay!! It's finally October, month of the skulls, skellies and
everything nice, I hope you guys will give us a busy month
linking all your fabulous Halloween and Day of the Dead and
other artsy, creepy, dark, strange  ---- well anything but cute ---
creations to us to come and see.

I made a skully card to honor the season

Using black inks, alcohol inks and VLV stamp

And lets see what Anne has for our delight:

To never...

Insist people respect your body - if your child doesn't want to hug Uncle Bob or Aunty Jane, don't force them, teach them they are in control of what is done with their body
and back them up every time.  Otherwise, maybe...
Gallows stamp ButterSide Down
Text die Spellbinders sent me instead of what I really ordered - not my scene, but I've put my own spin on it now!
Blank Page Muse stamps - ATCoin back, Steampunk Gentleman (wings only), owl & moon
The skeleton & spooky tree-house scene are unbranded dies.

And yes we meant to scream out the title of the post! Too bad the letters can't be BIGGGGGEER!

The winner of the challenge for the great Fall month

Layered Jack-O-Latern
That's cool, ehh?

Jumping on the Bandwagon

It's so easy to See no evil, Hear no evil, maybe even Speak no evil.
AND... we are becoming very PC-aware, even scared to speak at all lest we offend some minority.  BUT... there is one Speak that has arisen very publicly lately, so here's my spin on the #Metoo Movement:

The sweet little angel skeleton is from Mad Rat Rubber Stamps.  (oops, did I just use that word "sweet"???)
All others are from Lost Coast Designs

Please feed my darkness: add your sooo not-cute, dark art with the linky to 1 September post (if I got it right!), and one of you will get some ghoulappy mail :)

September 1 - First Day of Spring

So let's have a sunny day, and a magical forest where flu turns to bronchitis, and the bronchial inmates warp these trees as an "art technique" called bonsai.
Looks quite pretty by day, but tonight... these trees are walkin' to a different part of town.

Alas, poor Asylum Anne has stepped into a different darkness, engendered by crazy installations incorporating white fluids, bodily fluids, scungy rags, strange smells and places of rectal torture!

Hopefully she will be back in her own home soon, and able to mess with more congenial supplies soon.

EEEEKKK! Poor Anne, I wish her speedy trip back home
and strength with all the green stuff - inside and outside
the house...

It might be spring down under, but it certainly starts
feeling like Autumn here up north.
No more light nights, now it's time for a moon lights
and dark and darker and darker...

I saw this saying somewhere in the web,
and it stayed in my head

Full Moon Mood

Clown stamps are from a happy mail far far away,
and all the rest of the stamps are from
The Blank Page Muse Stamps,
like this and these.
Little paint, inks, embossing and lots of Gansai Tampi
shining colors.

This month I made a digital canvas to share.

The Lady in the Lake

So Happy Spring!! hehehe
From all of us, thanks so much for hopping over each month to check out what's going on in these odd brains  during these weird days we find ourselves in!

C'mon back and share some eye & mind candy with us won't you?  BECAUSE ANNE IS SCRAPING THE ASYLUM FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL TO PASS ON!

Ancestral DNA search

So, Asylum Anne has been indulging in some psych "research" looking into the past.  So far her closetted family tree has revealed these characters:

Anne has rarely managed to get an ATC details back stamped evenly on an ATC, so she is delighted that these ATC coin back stamps from Blank Page Muse as slrightly smaller, giving a chance to cut out with a ragged pair of scissors, ink the edges and still fit the coin's back.

Blank Page Muse for Coin backs, moon, witches
Vivalasvegas for devil, biker bear

Engraving Art

I was visiting a craft store and I saw these
Engraving Art thinkys there...

My kids has done these sometime, when they
were younger, but I never tried one.
So I thought why not, ;=D

So I bought one and scratched it a while:

and matted it with a golden cardstock

and made it a card, don't think this scratching will be my
thing to do, but hey, now I know, LOL.

Let us see what you've been doing (not the cuties thought),
by linking your art HERE, for a change to win these fab
FinnStamper stamps.

August already? For pity's sake where on Earth did July go???!?!?!?!?

This morning in my garden I saw

No wonder I haven't seen any butterflies, these guys must
have EATEN all the colorful and lovely species...

-------------------------

Meantime, Asylum Anne has been empathising with those stuck in darkness for days on end and created a "Commemorative Bottle" that, now monsoon is upon them, may well have floated out of the Tham Luang cave system with a sadder outcome..
Tar gel and alcohol inks drizzled inside, stamps from Rubber Dance fishy sets  on the outside.
The fragile mesh of life, and the glow-in-dark thread of the rescuers guide ropes.  People glued at intervals to the mesh right down to the bottom of the bottle, where a skull represents the Thai navy seal that died.
Outside embellished with paper, embossing powder, crackle medium, shells etc
Text "Thai caving" around the top
Safety helmets & bling for the rescuers bringing them back into lightness

---------------

These FinnStamper clear stamps might be flying on
your way if the you link your art down below,
it's anything goes - but not the cuties.
